About Model Health
Model Health is a Belgian–American software company transforming how human movement is measured and understood. Founded by former Stanford University researchers, Model Health combines cutting-edge biomechanics with artificial intelligence to deliver advanced movement analysis using nothing more than a smartphone.
Our technology originated from academic research in neuromuscular biomechanics and is already trusted by more than 10,000 users worldwide in universities, research centers, and leading organizations.
By replacing expensive, complex laboratory equipment with accessible smartphone video and AI, Model Health is democratizing movement analysis for the real world. Our platform empowers physiotherapists, coaches, sports organizations, and health professionals to prevent injuries, guide rehabilitation, and optimize performance with clinical-grade insights.
Backed by leading sports-focused investors, renowned clinicians, and experienced tech entrepreneurs, we are building an intuitive, scalable tool to make high-quality movement analysis available to everyone who works to improve human performance and health.
Role overview
Join us as a Computer Vision / Machine Learning Engineer!
We're looking for an outstanding engineer to join our team. You'll take a lead role in developing the core of our product, with the goal of improving the accuracy, speed, and robustness of our existing workflow while also contributing to the core engine of possible new product lines.
You'll work on problems spanning 2D/3D pose estimation, camera calibration, inverse kinematics, and biomechanical modeling.
This is a hands-on, technical role for someone with demonstrable computer vision expertise who wants to apply that skill to a real-world domain with direct impact on human health and performance. Ideally you also have a background in classical optimization and are comfortable using Python tooling to tackle these kinds of problems. No prior biomechanics knowledge is required — you will learn that on the job.
What you'll do
- Computer Vision Algorithm Development: Design, implement, and optimize state-of-the-art CV algorithms — pose estimation, keypoint detection, multi-view triangulation, tracking, and video-based motion reconstruction — in close collaboration with our engineering lead.
- Platform Optimization: Improve the stability, scalability, and computational efficiency of the platform core.
- Startup Mindset: Own projects end-to-end, adapt quickly, and contribute across multiple areas of the platform as priorities shift.
Who you are
- Strong, demonstrable computer vision / machine learning background — you have shipped or published work involving pose estimation, keypoint detection, object tracking, multi-view/3D reconstruction, or similar, using frameworks such as OpenCV, PyTorch, YOLO, MediaPipe, OpenPose, SAM3D-body or comparable tools.
- Deep learning fluency — experience applying machine learning and deep learning to visual or time-series data, with solid PyTorch (or TensorFlow) fundamentals.
- Numerical optimization know-how — applied experience solving estimation and parameter-identification problems efficiently.
- Master's degree in Computer Vision, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a related field.
- Strong ability to communicate technical findings to multidisciplinary and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership and mentorship potential — able to help shape technical direction and grow the team as the company scales.
Nice to have
- Experience with 3D human pose/shape models (e.g. SMPL, MHR).
- Understanding of biomechanics, gait analysis, or human movement science.
- Experience designing, building, and optimizing large-scale data pipelines.
- Software engineering best practices: version control (Git), testing, and performance optimization.
What we offer
- Remote and flexible work options: hybrid — minimum 3 days/week in-office + flexible work-from-home.
- Competitive salary package.
- Continuous learning and growth opportunities alongside top talent in a fast-scaling startup.
- A collaborative, mission-driven environment where your work will have a direct impact on people's lives worldwide.
